Jennifer Laffier,  PhD

Bio

Dr. Laffier grew up in Oshawa and takes pride in working and supporting her home town. She is passionate about supporting seniors, veterans, nature, farmers, and at-risk youth and children across Canada. Once an at-risk student herself, she researches in the field of mental health to understand how life long education can transform the lives of people.

Education

Dr. Laffier is a life long learner and attended Waterloo University where she received her degree in Psychology. She went on to receive a degree in Art Therapy, two masters in Creative Arts Therapies and Psychology, Certificates in Children's Mental Health, Trauma Counselling, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Risk Assessment, Eco-Therapy and Play Therapy. She finalized her education with a Ph.D. in Psychology with a focus on Mental Health. Dr. Laffier continues to take professional development courses and expand her education.

Employment

Dr. Laffier has worked with Ontario Tech University since its inception in 2005. Prior to this Dr. Laffier was a Professor at Durham College. Her main role for the last 25 years has been in private practice where she worked for various school boards, children's centres, and government agencies providing therapeutic and educational consulting support.
